  • Leanne Eaton – Parent Governor and Chair

Term of Office End Date: 02/11/2020
Committee Membership: Resources and Teaching & Learning
Positions of Responsibility: Chair of Governors
    Declarations of Interest: None

I live in Kirk Hammerton with my husband and two children, both of whom go to Kirk Hammerton Primary School.

My background is in Human Resources and I am CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development) qualified. I have been a Parent Governor since 2013, and Chair of the Federation since 2016. In my time as a Governor I have learnt a lot about primary education and the challenges that small rural schools can face.  I enjoy going into the two schools and seeing the children in their learning environments and I believe that all children who come to the schools are getting a good start to their education.

  • Elisabeth Mellor - Headteacher

      Term of Office End Date:
      Committee Membership:
     Resources and Teaching & Learning
      Positions of Responsibility: Executive Headteacher
      Declarations of Interest: None

I have been the Executive Headteacher across the Federation since September 2016 and work closely with the Governing Body to ensure that the leadership across the federation is strong and strategic. I have a Bachelor of Education Degree and have worked in seven different primary schools throughout my time in education, four of those as a headteacher. In addition I have carried out some school improvement work with Leeds Local Authority and worked as an Associate Headteacher, supporting a school at risk.

  • Paul Spurgeon – Foundation Governor

Term of Office End Date: Ex Officio
    Committee Membership: Teaching & Learning
Positions of Responsibility: Collective Worship; Health & Safey Governor
Declarations of Interest: Rector of The United Parish of Lower Nidderdale.

It was in September 1995 that I took up the post of Rector in The United Parish of Lower Nidderdale, and, as the incumbent of the parish, I automatically became a Foundation Governor for Kirk Hammerton Church of England Primary School.
Over the years I have had much enjoyment being part of the ‘family’ of our school, always looking forward to welcoming new children into the school and seeing them grow in confidence, maturity and awareness. There is always a tinge of sadness when the children come to the end of their time at Kirk Hammerton School, but this comes together with the delight that they are progressing towards the fulfilment of their potentials as they move on to their higher education.

  • Joanne Lamb – Foundation Governor

    Committee Membership: Teaching & Learning

I live in Hunsingore with my husband and two children - both of whom are pupils at Kirk Hammerton.

I was a Governor at Kirk Hammerton prior to the Federation being established, and over the last 12 months have enjoyed finding out more about Staveley school and getting to know staff and pupils. As a school Governor it is important to understand the needs of the children and also the staff. Our role is to keep the schools focused in a positive direction and to support Mrs Mellor and the staff team as much as possible to achieve the aims of the Federation.

My background is from within the food manufacturing industry and I work as a Technical Director for a company in Leeming Bar.

I studied a 4 Year Primary Teaching degree with Advanced Specialism in Physical Education at the University of Cumbria and graduated in 2015.

I am keen sportswoman and have a background of competing in Athletics and Rugby competitions at national level. As a result, I take a keen interest in the development and continuous progression of PE across the federation.

I am looking forward to continuing my role as a staff governor.

I worked as a senior manager with Ernst and Young in London and later in New Zealand before relocating back to my Yorkshire roots. I currently work for the civil service as a financial reporting expert.

I aim to utilise the skills I have developed throughout my career to help the Federation to achieve its goals. I live in Staveley and my 3 children all attend the school. In my free time I enjoy reading, films and a variety of sport. I am a keen runner and participate in races across a range of distances.

Term of Office End Date: 01/02/2021
    Committee Membership: Teaching & Learning
    Positions of Responsibility: None
    Declarations of Interest: None.

My wife and I moved to North Yorkshire in October 2016 from Leicestershire. After graduating from University in Nottingham my first job was as a Production Planner for a company that made toy typewriters.  After other jobs in manufacturing I moved initially into Further Education and later into Community Education.

I am a qualified teacher but have never taught in schools although I have taught people from 14 to 80 and from all academic abilities from basic literacy and numeracy to post graduate level. I believe strongly in the value of education and will always support different education opportunities at different stages of life.

I was, for a while, employed at a residential college for adults with disabilities and from that experience I am committed to ensuring every learner, whatever their age, is provided with the right level of support for them to succeed. I want to see all our pupils do as well as they can through equality of opportunity.

I was a Governor at a local primary school in Leicestershire with just over 100 pupils and understand the key issues involved at this level.  I look forward to helping develop and support the Federation.

I was appointed as a Co-opted Governor in September 2017.  I wanted to become a governor to support the local community and develop my understanding of children's education.

Latterly I have been PA to managing directors and for a medical professor at his private estate. My family hails from the Knaresborough area and I have lived at Thistle Hill in Knaresborough since 1982. In my spare time I exhibit dogs and am a championship show judge. In my working life I am a Project Manager in the construction industry something I have done for a good number of years. I have had the privilege of working on a number of governing bodies both in West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire over the years, a role I find that can be both demanding and enjoyable at the same time.

We have moved to the area in 2014 and feel very proud of the local community!
