Music Development Plan

Young Voices

We attend Young Voices every other year as a federation - the largest children's choir in the world.  In January 2025, along with 5000 other children, we sang with Tommy Blaize, the lead singer from the BBC's "Strictly Come Dancing" as well as 14-year-old Souparnika Nair.  We also celebrated Bob Marley's 80th birthday, singing a medley of his songs.

Music Across the Federation

We encourage pupils to share their musical learning with the rest of the school.  Children who are learning a musical instrument are invited to play in assemblies.

On World Book Day, we took part in a carousel of activities using David Wiesner's book "Flotsam."  One of the activities was to create musical soundscapes to match the book's amazing illustrations.

A wide variety of instrumental tuition, both individual lessons or small group lessons, are available to children.  North Yorkshire Music Hub manages this provision via peripatetic teachers.  Currently, we have children in the TIG Federation having singing lessons and learning the piano, guitar and flute.  If your child is interested in any of the musical instrument lessons or to see what is available, please visit: Home - North Yorkshire Music Hub

Any queries about music lessons and progress should also be made directly to them.  Telephone 0300 131 2131
